Festive Touches to Brighten Your Bathroom for the Holidays

holidayDecorating your bathroom is a fun way to make it sparkle in the winter season and to add holiday spirit. Additionally, a bathroom is a room often used by guests, so transform it into a joyful space for them.

Before you begin, you may want to think about color. Consider choosing a specific color scheme that will coordinate harmoniously with your bathroom and then decorate it in those shades. Alternatively, use traditional reds, greens, blues or white, or twist the color wheel and use lime green with tomato red, emerald green and garnet red, or olive green and brick red. Utilize snowy whites and glittering silvers to give your bath the appearance of a sparkling winter scape. Add stars or snowflake ornaments and plenty of white lights. Shimmering metallic gold and silver added to a neutral or black and white bathroom can add understated seasonal elegance.

Next, bring in your favorite scents of the season such as cinnamon, vanilla or evergreen with candles, diffusers or potpourri. Put candles in festive holders, or if you have the space consider a low profile candelabra with tall tapers as a centerpiece for the vanity.

Get creative by suspending brightly colored ribbons from your shower curtain rings against a plain colored shower curtain. Put away your everyday bath rug, shower curtain, and towels, and replace them with ones with a holiday design or colors. Add a little fun using holiday window clings of snowflakes or frosted ice on the vanity mirror.

Add a small pre lit tabletop tree on a plant stand or small menorah, or if you don't have the space, simply put some twisted bare branches in a tall vase on a shelf or vanity decorate them by suspending beautiful ornaments from them. For smaller areas, put small pinecones and miniature ornaments in a glass jar.

Swag above the bathroom window or around your mirror with evergreen boughs festooned with ribbon bows, ornaments and sparkling lights. Wrap ribbon around vanity cabinet doors and add a big bow to give them the appearance of boxed holiday gifts.

Put an assortment of seasonally scented soaps in a festive container, or use a pretty holiday dispenser for liquid soap, then sneak an elf on edge of the sink for a whimsical, lighthearted touch that children will enjoy.

Add a basket by the bath containing holiday bubble bath balls or other seasonally packaged or scented spa products you may find, such as gel wash or lotions.

Spruce up your bathroom with these festive bathroom decorating ideas and let your imagination turn your bathroom into a seasonally stylish space with a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
